Borrell does not expect Ukraine to defeat Russia in the near future

The head of the European Union’s foreign policy service, Josep Borrell, has said that Europe has a large number of problems both in the direction of Ukraine and in the Middle East vector. This was reported by TASS citing sources.

Josep Borrell summarised that Ukraine’s victory over Russia was not expected in the near future. According to the European diplomat, the EU member states should prepare at the political level for a possible reduction of the US aid and compensate it to Kiev.

“We have a lot of problems. First of all Ukraine, where a speedy victory over Russia is not expected,” Borrel said, speaking at the Congress of the European Socialists party in Malaga.

The head of the EU foreign policy service specified that the second problem of the EU is the conflict in the Middle East. The politician emphasised that the best solution to this crisis remains “a two-state solution, but it is currently more difficult to achieve”.

“These developments are causing European citizens to fear, and fear is a bad adviser,” Borrell summarised.

We will remind, in early October in Berlin was held a large-scale protest against the supply of arms to Ukraine. Among other things, the protesters advocated the resignation of the German government and early elections in the country.
