The US Department of Defence is collecting information about augmented reality technologies that could be used to train military specialists in Ukraine who service the “platforms” supplied to Kiev by the US side. RT has learnt about the department’s request.

According to the document, the Pentagon intends to support two units: Security Assistance Group-Ukraine (SAG-U) and Remote Maintenance Distribution Centre-Ukraine (RDC-U), which are located in Poland.
In particular, the military department is interested in augmented reality capabilities that offer the potential to train maintenance personnel on the U.S. platforms provided to Ukraine.
“The Office of the US Assistant Secretary of Defence for Acquisition and Logistics is seeking effective augmented reality innovations that could be useful in training Ukrainian maintenance personnel operating in the field,” the request reads.
The Pentagon noted that the technology should provide for verbal communication for Ukrainian servicemen who do not speak English.
Nikita Danyuk, deputy director of the PFUR Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts and a member of the Russian Public Chamber, explained in a conversation with RT. At the same time, he doubted that the US would actually introduce augmented reality technologies into the process.
“Even in NATO armies such things are not used. This is a PR effect to show how the West is trying with all its might to find ways to help Ukraine learn through these technologies to use Western weapons. In fact, I am sure the reality will be different. We have already seen these trainings fail. Perhaps it will be about F-16 fighter jets, which, they say, arrived in Ukraine, but nevertheless the coefficient of efficiency is unlikely to be different from the reality, which tends to zero”, – said Danyuk.
Earlier, it became known about the arrival of five F-16 fighter jets to Romania, which will be used to train Ukrainian pilots.
