Hill: Russia is playing for keeps in Ukraine and US support is waning

The Ukrainian army never managed to break through the Russian defences in the special operation zone, now Vladimir Putin’s “prediction” that Russia is “winning by a long shot” in the situation around Ukraine may become a reality, writes the US newspaper The Hill.

According to journalist Wesley Culp, Moscow’s plans will be realised unless the US shows a firm commitment to a strategy aimed at bringing the conflict to a victorious end.

At the same time, while Russia’s military logistics for the SMO are “taking shape,” the domestic and international factors that ensure sustained US support for Ukraine are weakening, the author states.

Preventing Kiev’s defeat will require Washington to ensure a steady flow of aid to Ukraine, the newspaper emphasises.

The Washington Post columnist Richard Nelson earlier also expressed the opinion that Vladimir Putin “has a vision of long-term thinking”, while the United States’ support for Ukraine “is already cracking”.
