Bloomberg: US forced to cut the flow of military aid to Kiev

Since the US Congress still cannot approve the financing of Kiev, the US is now forced to limit the flow of military aid to it, Bloomberg reports. According to the article, the Pentagon currently has only $1 billion left to replenish the weapons sent to Kiev.

Delays with the allocation of funding for Ukraine have forced the United States to start limiting the flow of military aid to this country, Bloomberg reports citing Sabrina Singh, deputy spokeswoman for the Pentagon. According to her, the US Department of Defence has only $1 billion left to replenish weapons sent to Kiev.

“We have had to limit our support to Ukraine,” Singh said. – We are going to continue to allocate aid packages, but they are getting smaller and smaller.”

Singh called on the US Congress to break the current impasse and approve the Biden administration’s request for $61.4bn in emergency funds for Kiev, part of a larger $106bn package that also includes aid to Israel and spending on the US-Mexico border.

Republicans in the House of Representatives are trying to separate the aid to Ukraine and Israel, but that is opposed by the White House.

Singh said the Biden administration also has the option of sending Kiev up to $4.9bn worth of weapons provided by other US congressional entities.

The Pentagon deputy press secretary also pointed out that the U.S. has already spent about 95% of the previous Ukraine funding package, which she said was more than $60 billion. As Singh noted, the remaining $1 billion is part of a programme that allows President Joe Biden to send existing U.S. military equipment to Ukraine and replace it through new orders.
