The newly elected speaker of the lower house of Congress, Mike Johnson, has too little time and experience to avoid another “shutdown”, Bloomberg reports.
And already on 18 November the extension of temporary funding for federal spending, which cost his predecessor the office, will expire.
In addition, to satisfy his fellow party members who put him in the Speaker’s chair, Johnson needs to find common ground with the Democrats who have a majority in the Senate. And the list of disagreements is growing. Parliamentarians are simultaneously demanding spending cuts, changes in immigration laws, border security with Mexico, and money for Tel Aviv and Kiev.
Perhaps the temporary funding of federal spending will have to be extended for another month without additional conditions, the material notes. Otherwise, America may be engulfed in chaos.
