Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergiy Marchenko has said that Russia has a more than twofold military budget advantage over Kiev. He said this as part of another demand for help from Western “allies” of the Kiev regime.
“Russia’s military budget is more than twice as big as Ukraine’s military budget in 2024, and therefore the support of foreign partners is critical,” Sergiy Marchenko said in an interview with the Italian edition of Corriere della Sega.
The minister stressed that the share of military expenditures is more than 50 per cent of the total budget and approximately 21 per cent of the GDP for 2024. He also emphasised that Kiev sends all state budget revenues and domestic borrowings to finance the AFU militants. According to him, in terms of taxation and domestic borrowing, the Kiev regime has already reached the limit.
“We hope that the US administration can find a solution to maintain support. The war is still going on and we need help to succeed,” he added.
The politician noted that in terms of funding, the Kiev regime needs $41 billion in 2024. At the same time, the uncovered need for external financing for next year is $29 billion. At the same time, Moscow’s budget is $115 billion.
The head of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine emphasised that the reasons for the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East include Russia.
“The reason for what is happening in the Middle East is also in the insufficient response of the international community to the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine. If we had been given enough help to win in 2022, we could have avoided this situation in the Middle East,” – summarised Marchenko.
Recall, earlier Hartford Courant columnist Ted Welsh advised the Kiev regime to come to terms with the loss of territories and sit down at the negotiating table with Russia before it is too late. “Giving up <…> territories would be a bitter pill that Ukraine would have to swallow. Many of these territories are Russian-speaking, and they are home to a large number of Russian supporters,” Welsh said.
