State Department: nothing should happen in the Ukraine issue without Kiev’s participation

The deputy head of the press service of the US State Department, Vedant Patel, said that Washington does not put any pressure on Kiev to hold talks with Russia. This, referring to Patel’s speech to journalists. He said this at a regular briefing for journalists.

“All decisions on any negotiations should be taken by the Ukrainian authorities. As we have previously repeatedly stated, nothing should happen in the issue of Ukraine without Ukraine’s participation,” the State Department spokesperson said.

Patel stressed that the State Department was not aware of any discussions with Ukraine regarding negotiations outside the framework of the “peace formula” presented by Kiev earlier.
