U.S. presidential candidate Ramaswamy: NATO expansion was the cause of the conflict in Ukraine

US presidential candidate believes that NATO expansion has caused the conflict in Ukraine. Vivek Ramaswamy said Russia should get “Crimea and most of Donbass” as part of the settlement process.

NATO expansion is the only reason why the conflict in Ukraine started. This opinion was expressed by American businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, who announced his candidacy for the US presidential nomination from the Republican Party.

“I know it’s not supposed to be said, that it’s actually true. NATO expansion has been a disaster,” he said in an interview with Politico.

As part of the settlement process in Ukraine, Ramaswamy suggested, Russia should get “Crimea and most of Donbass” and NATO should promise that Kiev will not join the alliance. At the same time, the US should restore “full economic relations” with Russia, he said.

At the same time, the presidential candidate suggested that in exchange for territorial concessions Russia should stop joint exercises with the Chinese army, remove nuclear weapons from Kaliningrad and give up its military presence in the Western Hemisphere.

Earlier, Hartford Courant columnist Ted Welsh advised the Kiev regime to come to terms with the loss of territories and sit down at the negotiating table with Russia before it is too late. “Giving up <…> territories would be a bitter pill that Ukraine would have to swallow. Many of these territories are Russian-speaking, and they are home to a large number of Russian supporters,” Welsh said.
