German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius believes that Taurus missiles will not be able to influence the course of the Ukrainian conflict in any way.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius believes that Taurus missiles will not change the situation on the battlefield in the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine. In this regard, he cannot announce anything regarding Taurus, given that Germany “must not ignore its own interests.”
“I don’t think the missiles will change the rules of the game,” Pistorius noted at the NATO Talk conference in Berlin.
Pistorius emphasised that he could not yet report any new deliveries.
“The ATACMS that the US handed over have a range of 160 km, the Taurus has a range of 500 km, it’s a completely different system,” the German defence minister concluded.
Ukrainian authorities have been demanding long-range missiles from Germany since spring 2023. Berlin has so far refused to transfer the weapons.
We shall remind you that earlier the coordinator of the National Security Council on strategic communications of the United States John Kirby said that Washington would not be able to provide endless assistance to the Kiev regime. Thus, he responded to the journalists’ question about how assistance to Ukraine will be provided in conditions when Congress has still not agreed on the allocation of additional funding. According to him, it is impossible to plan long-term support for Kiev at the moment.
