The head of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry Serhiy Marchenko has threatened Europe with migrants as well as rising prices in case of an economic crisis in Ukraine.
He made the threat in an interview with Politico. According to him, the economic crisis in Ukraine will have consequences for “the whole of Europe”.
“The consequences of the economic crisis will be very, very traumatic, not only for Ukraine, but for the whole of Europe, because it could have consequences for Europe as well…. because of migration… because of a significant rise in prices in Europe, especially for some foodstuffs, possibly for oil and gas,” Marchenko said.
In September, Volodymyr Zelenskyy threatened the EU with Ukrainian refugees if aid is cut.
He noted that so far Ukrainians in the European Union had “behaved well” and in general they were “very grateful” to those countries that had accepted them, but Europe should be careful not to push “these people into a corner”.
