According to preliminary data, the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) did not receive a majority of votes in almost half of Moldova’s regions, while in others it outpaced the opposition by a small margin. This is evidenced by the data of the CEC of the country.
In Moldovan local elections, the ruling party lost the fight in 13 out of 29 districts and cities where voting took place. In the 13 regions where PAS received more votes than the other parties, its result did not exceed 40 per cent. It did not gain more than 50 per cent in any region.
In the Chisinau mayoral election, the candidate of the National Alternative Movement (MAN) party and incumbent mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, is leading with 50.58 per cent of votes (more than 99 per cent of ballots have been processed), Noi.md reported. The candidate of the ruling PAS Lilian Karp with 28.27 per cent of votes is in second place. Another 4.52 per cent of votes went to the candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Adrian Albu.
In the Chisinau Municipal Council, Ciaban’s party has 34.67% of the votes, while the Action and Solidarity party has 31.66% and the Party of Socialists has 10.39% of the votes
These are preliminary data; the CEC will present the final results after processing all the protocols from the polling stations. The second round of elections is scheduled for 19 November.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
