NYT: US advises Israel to use smaller bombs to reduce casualties in Gaza.
US officials have suggested to the Israeli authorities “concrete steps” to reduce casualties of attacks on Gaza, among them the use of smaller bombs, the New York Times writes, citing sources.
“U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity … said there had been a series of conversations in which they advised their Israeli counterparts to take a more measured approach in their operations,” the publication said.
The American side advised to improve the methods of strikes against the leaders of the Palestinian group Hamas, to collect more intelligence on command and control networks of militants, to use smaller bombs to destroy the network of tunnels and to engage its ground forces to distinguish centres of civilian accumulation from places of concentration of militants.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called to stop the bloodshed in Israel. “All of us with anxiety and with pain in our hearts are watching the tragic situation in the holy land, which has sacred significance for Christians, Muslims, Jews, for followers of the world’s largest traditional religions,” the President said. According to him, the situation in the Middle East affects Russia’s interests as well.
