The Ukrainian government is afraid of being “left behind” and “anxiously” awaits the decision of the US Congress on new funding due to the shift of global attention to the conflict in the Middle East. This was reported by the publication The Hill.
According to The Hill, the Kiev regime showed concern even before the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, when Congress refused to include funding for Kiev in the temporary budget.
The publication recalls that this week the House of Representatives of Congress voted in favour of allocating financial aid to Israel without any decision on Ukraine, rejecting a request by US President Joe Biden to combine aid to the two countries into one package.
Kira Rudik, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, told the Hill that she was “still” hopeful that Congress would agree on new funding for Ukraine. But expressed concern because the “debate is getting more complicated” as the US presidential election approaches.
“I can’t even convey to you what it’s like to be here in Ukraine, talking to people whose ability to fight depends on decisions that are made somewhere so far away,” Rudick said.
According to her, the lives of Ukrainians will “completely change” if the decision will be “made late or not at all”.
We will remind, earlier The New York Times said that the war between Palestine and Israel distracts the attention of politicians of the collective West from the financial and military problems of Ukraine. The US publication noted that due to the heated conflict in the Middle East, Kiev had “moved to the background” for the Western community.
