Blinken told Abbas of US determination to help establish a Palestinian state
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah on Sunday, during which he emphasised Washington’s determination to promote the creation of a Palestinian state, the State Department press service said in a released statement.
“Secretary of State Blinken reaffirmed that the U.S. remains committed to ensuring equal protection of dignity and security for Palestinians and Israelis alike. The Secretary of State also underscored the US readiness to help realise the Palestinians’ legitimate aspirations for a state of their own,” the US diplomatic office said.
In addition, Blinken, during his conversation with Abbas, pointed to the importance of continuing to deliver vital humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The Secretary of State also made it clear that the US considers unacceptable the scenario of forcible transfer of Palestinian residents to other areas.
“The sides also discussed efforts to restore order and stability in the West Bank, including the need to stop extremist violence against Palestinians and hold those responsible to account,” the State Department informed.
