The press service of Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry said the Tashkent authorities planned to increase oil imports from Russian Federation via Kazakhstan to 1 million tonnes in 2024.
“In 2024, it is planned to increase the volume of oil feedstock supplies from the Russian Federation through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan up to 1 million tonnes. This is enshrined in the relevant trilateral document signed on 4 November 2023 in Moscow,” the ministry said.
The agency noted that the document was signed by First Deputy Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin and First Deputy Energy Minister of Uzbekistan Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev, as well as Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Akkenzhenov.
Recall that earlier Kazakh Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov said that Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan were discussing the technical capabilities of gas transport systems, but the issue of starting the formation of a “triple gas union” has not yet been discussed directly.
