“She’s finished”: in Ukraine outraged by von der Leyen’s behaviour in Kiev

A former adviser to Leonid Kuchma, Oleg Soskin, has said that the visit of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to the Ukrainian capital is just a political move that does not mean anything.

Oleg Soskin stressed that the visit of the head of the European Commission to Kiev was a formality that did not imply anything, despite all the “sincere” statements by Ursula von der Leyen. In the expert’s opinion, Europe needed to show some support for Ukraine.

“No money will not be given. Just she (von der Leyen. – ed.) came. Well, it is necessary to come, to support this guy, Zelensky. But she’s already done – she’s playing the last act. She just has to do it beautifully to have a promising political future,” Soskin summarised in a YouTube blog.

The expert suggested that von der Leyen would soon leave her post as head of the European Commission, and therefore her statements look like “empty sound”.

Earlier, columnist Flavia Krause-Jackson wrote in an article for Bloomberg that as winter approaches, Ukraine’s Western allies are systematically turning away from Kiev, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can hardly hide his disappointment in this regard.
