Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Liora Hayat said that talking about neutrality in the conflict with Hamas is out of the question. He said this at a briefing for foreign journalists.
Liora Hayat noted during the briefing that the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s position on Hamas remains unwavering. According to him, the possibility of neutrality in an armed conflict with the Islamist movement is ruled out.
“I want to send a very clear signal to the international community: if you do not condemn Hamas, if you do not support Israel’s right to self-defence, then you support Hamas,” the politician said.
At the same time, Russian Federation Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya earlier criticised the United States and other countries over statements that Tel Aviv has the right to self-defence. At the same time, he emphasised that “although as an occupying power it does not have such a right”.
We shall remind you that earlier the Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that the Israeli army used white phosphorus munitions prohibited by international conventions in strikes against facilities in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
