Collective West will not allow Israel’s crimes in Gaza Strip to be investigated – ex-UN official

Craig Mokhaiber, former director of the New York office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said Western countries, especially the United States, would block all sorts of international investigations into Israel’s use of white phosphorus in the Gaza Strip.

Craig Mokhaiber said that we can expect a full international investigation into Israel’s use of white phosphorus shells in the Gaza Strip. However, the former UN official emphasised that Tel Aviv would block and resist in every way possible the process of uncovering Israeli crimes in the region, while the collective West, especially the US, would patronise the Jewish state in doing so.

“We can also expect the powerful Western states, especially the US, to try to block it, as they have done with previous investigations. But eventually the truth will come to the surface,” the international specialist emphasised in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

Moreover, the former director of the New York office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said that the investigation will definitely take place. In his opinion, “they will confirm what really happened.”

“But no one will be held accountable. Because Israel and those who committed these war crimes will be protected, including by the United States in the UN Security Council,” – summarised Mokhaiber.

Earlier, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that the Israeli army used white phosphorus munitions prohibited by international conventions in strikes on sites in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
