Blaha, the new deputy speaker of Slovakia’s parliament, carried the EU flag out of the cabinet

The new deputy speaker of the Slovak parliament, Luboš Blaha, has replaced the flag of the European Union with the flag of the country and the portrait of President Zuzana Chaputova with that of Che Guevara at his new workplace. He announced this in his Telegram channel.

“The first day in the new office of the deputy speaker of parliament – I had to make small adjustments,” Blaha said, writing a comment on the video, which he called “Autumn Cleaning”.

The politician later commented that Bratislava comes first for him. At the same time, he emphasised that it was not his responsibility to keep the EU flag in his office.

As for the portrait of the country’s president, he said that it was not a national symbol. He specified that Che Guevara is “a globally recognised symbol of the struggle for freedom”.

Recall that earlier Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that in foreign policy terms Slovakia will continue membership in the European Union and NATO, but in defence of the national interests of the state. According to the Smer party leader, the country’s Foreign Ministry will no longer represent other people’s interests. The politician emphasised that Slovakia plans to be a reliable partner. However, according to the Smer party leader, this does not mean that Bratislava will not have the courage to say “no” in response to proposals and measures that would harm the interests of the state.
