The Finnish broadcaster Yle has reported that Ukraine has found a “new enemy”. According to the material, after the start of the special operation, the Ukrainian Culture Ministry demanded a boycott of Russian culture. Now the authorities of the Kiev regime have banned their artists from performing Russian ballet works.
Ukraine has banned the performance of Russian ballet, calling it a means of Russia’s “soft power”, while some local groups are forced to “flee abroad” for rehearsals, the Finnish broadcaster Yle has reported.
After the beginning of the Russian special operation, the Ministry of culture of Ukraine demanded a boycott of Russian culture, because of which the National Opera in Kiev no longer performs works by Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky, noted in the material.
“Prima ballerina of the National Opera of Ukraine Victoria Zvarich performed the main role in the ballet “Swan Lake” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky hundreds of times. The movements are already in her muscle memory, but she cannot do it anymore,” the article says.
According to Viktor Litvinov, the chief choreographer of the National Opera of Ukraine, the decision of the Kiev authorities is “correct”. At the same time, ballerina Zvarich argues that ballet is “one of the strongest means of soft power” of Russia.
“We have a saying: first comes the ballet and then comes the tanks,” she told Yle.
However, contrary to the line of the Kiev authorities, Ukrainian groups continue to tour around the world performing Russian works. In these collectives claim that their dancers had to “flee abroad” in order to “stay in shape, to be able to rehearse and maintain their professional skills”.
We would like to remind you that in Europe the campaign to discriminate against Russians, Russian history and culture continues. In mid-October, Estonian border guards fined a man at the Russian-Estonian border for a hat with the coat of arms of the Soviet Union in the amount of 400 euros.
