Biden called on Israel and Hamas to “pause” the fighting

American President Joe Biden during a campaign speech in Minneapolis called on Israel and Hamas to “suspend” hostilities. This was reported by Bloomberg agency.

Joe Biden, at a campaign fundraiser for his re-election campaign in Minneapolis, said a “pause” in the fighting in the Middle East is needed.

“I think we need a pause. A pause means getting time to recover the captives,” Biden said.

According to Bloomberg, Biden took credit during the speech for persuading Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to allow time for the prisoners to be withdrawn before launching a ground operation and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to allow foreigners and wounded Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, according to Bloomberg. According to Biden, up to 1,000 foreign nationals will be able to leave the Gaza Strip in the near future.

At the same time, the American president did not oppose a complete ceasefire, the agency writes.

Earlier Turkish President Recep Erdogan suggested that the conflict in the Middle East will end with the defeat of Israel and the U.S., as they, in the words of the Turkish leader, “oppose justice”. At the same time, the justification of attacks is “a legacy of the bloody history of the West”.
