The level of support for United States President Joe Biden among the American population of Arab nationality fell by 42 percentage points to a record low of 17 per cent, down from 59 per cent in 2020. This was revealed by the published data of the Arab American Institute (AAI) against the backdrop of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the position of the head of the White House.
According to the presented indicators, support for Joe Biden is currently only 17%, while in 2020 it was estimated at 59%. A sociological study showed that only 23% of Arabs living in the US support the Democratic Party. Thus, for the first time in 26 years of such AAI surveys, an overwhelming majority of Arab Americans do not favour the Democrats.
“The dissatisfaction with President Biden is actually quite large…his numbers are dangerously low, lower than I’ve ever seen for a Democratic presidential candidate,” AAI President James Zogby said, commenting on the poll results.
Zogby added that he was “shocked” by the survey results.
In addition, the survey showed that two-thirds of respondents have a negative view of Biden, 67% negatively assess his actions in the framework of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, 68% believe that the United States should not send weapons to Israel, but to put pressure on it for a ceasefire.
Recall, earlier Turkish President Recep Erdogan suggested that the conflict in the Middle East will end with the defeat of Israel and the United States, as they, in the words of the Turkish leader, “oppose justice”. At the same time, the justification of attacks is a “legacy of the West’s bloody history”.
