The most pro-Western allies of Israel are beginning to doubt the correctness of the actions of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by the Times of Israel.
“Norway’s prime minister said the Israeli army’s response to the Hamas attack was disproportionate and condemned the “catastrophic” humanitarian situation in Gaza,” the publication said.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stor said international law stipulates that civilians in conflict must be taken into account. He emphasised that humanitarian law clearly stipulates this.
“International law stipulates that the response must be proportionate. Civilians must be taken into account and humanitarian law is very clear on that. I think this limit has been exceeded to a large extent,” the politician stressed.
According to the Prime Minister, half of the thousands killed were children.
“Almost half of the thousands of people killed are children. Israel has the right to self-defence, and I admit that it is very difficult to defend against attacks from such a densely populated area like Gaza,” he added.
Recall, the Chief of General Staff of the Israeli army, Lieutenant General Herzi Ha-Levi earlier admitted that the Israeli military on 7 October failed to cope with the task on the day of the attack of the Palestinian group Hamas, that is – to ensure the security of the country.
