Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights of the Russian Foreign Ministry Grigory Lukyantsev said that Ukrainian families who live in Western countries have asked the Russian permanent mission to the UNO to help return their children.
Grigory Lukyantsev said that Ukrainian families appealed to the Russian Permanent Mission to the UN in New York with a request to help return their own children taken away by the authorities of European countries. The director of the department for humanitarian cooperation and human rights of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasised that representatives of the state entity Ukraine to the petitions of its own citizens referred to some problems of “political dimension”.
“The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN in New York has been approached by several dozen Ukrainian mothers and families since April 2023 with a request to assist them in returning their children… The applicants themselves frankly told us that the Ukrainian side hinted to them that they had problems of some political dimension,” Lukyantsev told Channel One.
The diplomat added that the department continues to receive identical requests from Ukrainian families. According to the civil servant, the Russian representatives are trying to solve the problem in detail in each specific case.
