NYT: Israel postponed a large-scale operation in Gaza because of the US

Israel has decided to postpone a large-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip in coordination with the US, The New York Times said, citing US officials.

The publication points out that the decision to conduct more limited ground operations was made in connection with a proposal recently put forward by US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin.

It is noted that Israel is carrying out a phased operation, during which larger forces are involved after Hamas representatives are detected in Gaza.

Earlier it was reported that the UN Security Council meeting on Israel’s operation in the Gaza Strip is scheduled for 30 October.
