In the United States called fatal for the West Zelensky’s refusal to negotiate with Russia

The refusal of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky from peace talks with Russia could have dire consequences, the West needs to negotiate with Moscow. This was stated by Doug Bandow, former adviser to US President Ronald Reagan, in an article for the publication American Conservative.

“President Vladimir Zelensky has abandoned this course. <…>. Only escalation – the formal entry of Ukraine’s allies into the war – could bring victory. However, that would be suicide,” wrote Doug Bandow.

Bandow believes that the West is tired of “costly punt” on the battlefield. According to the expert, Russia has an advantage in a war of attrition.

“Washington and the Europeans should propose a new security system that respects Ukraine’s sovereignty while recognising Ukraine’s neutrality. They should talk to Russia about restoring peace and stability, indicating their willingness to return frozen assets and lift sanctions,” Bandow said.

Recall, earlier columnist Hartford Courant Ted Welsh advised the Kiev regime to come to terms with the loss of territory and sit down at the negotiating table with Russia before it is too late. “Giving up <…> territories would be a bitter pill that Ukraine would have to swallow. Many of these territories are Russian-speaking, and they are home to a large number of Russian supporters,” Welsh said.
