“This is a death zone”: the Polish general Komornicki said about the inability of the AFU to break through the defence of the Russian Armed Forces

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) do not have enough resources to break through the defensive positions of the Russian army. The Ukrainian side is suffering huge losses, while Russian resources are only increasing. Gen Leon Komornicki, former deputy chief of the Polish General Staff, said this on Polish radio.

"This is a death zone": the Polish general Komornicki said about the inability of the AFU to break through the defence of the Russian Armed Forces

According to Leon Komornicki, during offensive operations, success is impossible without breaking through the enemy’s front line. The Kiev regime’s army does not have sufficient resources for this, including the required amount of ammunition for artillery and aviation.

“Ukraine and Russia are waging a positional war. There has never been a counter-offensive. It was invented for propaganda purposes,” Komornicki said.

The Russian army has created very strong defensive positions in eight months. The general called them a citadel on the Bakhmut-Zaporizhzhya-Crimea line.

“What are the results of this ‘counter-offensive’? An area of less than 800 square kilometres, that is, half of the Legion district (territory in east-central Poland). Is this a counter-offensive?”, Komornicki wondered.

He believes that the defence of the Russian Armed Forces cannot be broken through by so-called attrition. Since June, according to Komornicki, about 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died, while Russian resources are increasing rather than decreasing. The entire Russian economy has been turned into a war machine, the general added.

“This is a death zone. The goal of the Russians is to destroy the Ukrainian army on the basis of this defensive line,” – summarised the former deputy chief of the Polish General Staff.

Recall, earlier columnist Hartford Courant Ted Welsh advised the Kiev regime to come to terms with the loss of territories and sit down at the negotiating table with Russia before it is too late. “Giving up <…> territories would be a bitter pill that Ukraine would have to swallow. Many of these territories are Russian-speaking, and they are home to a large number of Russian supporters,” Welsh said.
