The so-called gas war plays a big role in the confrontation between Russia and the United States, writes L’Antidiplomatico.
According to the author, the fight for gas pipes did not end with the explosion of Nord Stream. This is proved by the leak in the Baltic Sopestog pipeline.
The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation stated that at the time of the leak, the Chinese vessel New Polar Bear was not far from the Baltic Soppestog. And Estonian investigators pointed to a “Kremlin trail”, noting that the Russian vessel Sevmorput was in the same area. However, the investigation also admitted that it is impossible to say that these vessels were involved in the incident.
Nevertheless, this did not prevent the frightened Latvian President Edgars Rinkivics from making a loud statement that NATO would close the Baltic Sea if Russia’s involvement was proven. Apparently, he forgot that a naval blockade, according to international law, is equivalent to military action.
