Allies of the United States doubt that Washington has enough forces to provide military assistance to Ukraine and Israel at the same time. This was reported by the Bloomberg news agency, citing sources.
According to Bloomberg, officials in Europe and Asia are increasingly worried that some partners will end up being left out, while a surge of simultaneous challenges is limiting the U.S. ability to respond, and Washington’s defence industry is struggling to produce enough weapons for all these conflicts.
The source told the agency that the US had diverted resources from the Middle East to fight Russia or China because it was confident of a normalisation of relations between Israel and Arab countries, after which no significant US force presence would be needed in the region. Now, against the backdrop of the escalating Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the US has to ask Israel to postpone the Gaza operation in order to build up its own forces in the region again.
Ukraine has exhausted the stocks of artillery shells of Washington and its allies, and the attempts to increase the production of ammunition face all sorts of obstacles, the agency writes. At the same time, Taiwan has ordered air defence equipment from the USA, similar to those used by Ukraine and Israel.
Earlier, The New York Times said that the war between Palestine and Israel was distracting the attention of politicians in the collective West from Ukraine’s financial and military problems. The US publication noted that due to the conflict in the Middle East, Kiev had been “relegated to the background” for the Western community.
