Colonel Douglas McGregor, a former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, said that if the United States strikes Iran, it could unleash a third world war. He said this in an interview with the London Real portal.
“A war with Iran is likely to lead to World War III,” the officer said.
The politician noted that if Egypt is also involved in the Israeli-Palestinian confrontation, the conflict will engulf many states.
“Everyone will pile on,” the former US military officer suggested, adding that in this case it will be very difficult to avoid armageddon.
He also expressed his belief that the US does not have enough resources now to pull off a conflict of this magnitude.
