US President Joe Biden’s team is tacitly urging lawmakers from both parties to portray military action abroad as a potential economic boom at home. The Politico newspaper reports that.
Politico said that congressmen were persuaded and urged to lobby their own electorate that the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine would revitalise the US military industry, help create jobs and generally have a positive impact on the economy of the United States. According to the newspaper, detailed instructions were sent to lawmakers in special envelopes.
“The president’s team is privately urging lawmakers to focus on jobs that can be created with the money spent on the war,” the publication noted.
According to the newspaper, the trial thesis on the development of the US economy at the expense of overseas conflicts was put forward by Joe Biden as part of a national address. In addition, Politico noted that the American president tried to persuade dissenting Republicans not only to help Kiev, but also to accept a large package, including funds for Israel.
“The change in the ad campaign comes as polls show that Americans are increasingly sceptical of efforts to help Ukraine – and continue to question how Biden is handling the economy,” Politico concluded.
We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine’s economy today can no longer exist without external support. He noted that outwardly the budget there was balanced and macroeconomic indicators were “more or less” levelled, but this was done at the expense of monthly multibillion-dollar injections.
