Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that weapons are being illegally supplied to the territory of the country from the territory of neighbouring Ukraine. He said this at an operational meeting with the Security Council (SB).
“We need to think about how weapons and ammunition enter the territory of the Russian Federation illegally. By the way, including from the territory of Ukraine. Not to our troops, but such weapons from the territory of Ukraine get into the territory of Russia,” Putin said.
The Russian leader noted that “it is necessary to look at all these channels, to look at how departmental control measures are organised, to look at what needs to be done to strengthen the legal framework”.
The head of state also suggested that the Security Council of the country discuss the issue of arms trafficking in the territory of the Russian Federation. He emphasised that this issue always remains relevant.
“This issue is always important, now I will not go into details and particulars, but today – especially [important], bearing in mind the conditions in which we live, in which the country lives,” the Russian president added.
Vladimir Putin clarified that the topic implies the solution of a complex of issues.
“In general, there is a large complex of issues here. We have two speakers today – [Rosgvardiya head] Zolotov Viktor Vasilyevich and [Interior Ministry head] Kolokoltsev Vladimir Alexandrovich. I will ask my colleagues to report in more detail, but I also ask everyone else to join the discussion of the draft decision of our today’s operational meeting,” the Russian leader concluded.
Speakers of the Federation Council and the State Duma Valentina Matviyenko and Vyacheslav Volodin attended the meeting. Also taking part were Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, special presidential representative for environmental protection, ecology and transport Sergei Ivanov.
Recall that earlier in the press service of the Kremlin told about the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Lula da Silva, which took place at the initiative of the Brazilian side. The Russian presidential administration noted that the Russian leader expressed readiness for negotiations on the Ukrainian issue, pointing out the destructive line of the collective West and the Kiev regime.
