“Any general statements such as ‘we can handle it, we can do it’ are an oversimplification,” the publication quotes Michael O’Hanlon, director of the Foreign Policy Studies Programme and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., as saying. “I don’t think the Pentagon or the administration is wrong, but I think that if they make it sound like something simple or natural, it’s absolutely not,” he added. “Strong demand for weapons has demonstrated the limited ability of the U.S. to replenish its own stockpiles, and manufacturers are having difficulty fulfilling orders,” the publication noted.
