Israel has accused Amnesty International, an international human rights organisation headquartered in London, of “anti-Semitism and bias against the Jewish state”. The European version of the newspaper Politico writes about this.
Politico reported that Israel accused Amnesty International of “bias”. According to the newspaper, this happened after the human rights organisation issued a statement saying that “serious violations of international humanitarian law, including war crimes, are occurring on all sides of the conflict”.
“Amnesty International is an anti-Semitic organisation that is biased against Israel. It is not authoritative enough to be called a human rights organisation,” Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Hayat told Politico.
Lior Hayat continued the topic of discussion in a conversation with the newspaper, arguing that the international organisation’s lack of response following the Palestinian Hamas attack on Israel “only serves to demonstrate that Amnesty International is a propaganda structure working for Hamas terrorists.”
The newspaper recalls that Amnesty International has been criticised since the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. According to Politico, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected the report, which claimed that Kiev’s wartime tactics endangered civilians and violated international law. Later, the head of the Kiev regime said that the human rights organisation was “playing into Russia’s hands”.
Earlier, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that the Israeli army had used white phosphorous munitions banned by international conventions in strikes on facilities in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
