RS BiH President Dodik: sanctions against Russia have caused more damage to the EU

President of the Republika Srpska Bosnia and Herzegovina (RS BiH) Milorad Dodik has said that Western countries have made a mistake in their calculations. According to him, the attempted enlargement of the NATO bloc and anti-Russian sanctions have caused more damage to the EU countries than to the Russian Federation. He told RIA Novosti.

“It is now clear to see that the West did not assess the situation well when it started the confrontation with the Russian Federation and the Russian state, and is losing strength in what they thought they could do. First in trying to put NATO on the very borders and in the neighbourhood of Moscow and other important places of the Russian Federation. Then their bad judgement in imposing sanctions has caused more damage to some Western countries that pursue American policies, like Germany, which has more and more problems in its economy and almost the whole EU,” Milorad Dodik said.

The President of the Republic specified that the West failed to defeat Moscow with its attempts to damage the country. He emphasised that the country’s authorities did everything to prevent the imposition of sanctions against Russia.

“They could not defeat Russia with their sneaky attempts to inflict damage. We here as a small entity were able to influence the decisions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, did not allow that sanctions were imposed against the Russian Federation or managed anything from what they were conducting. Some Bosniak politicians, falsely presenting themselves, tried to show their favour to the West and on the European stage, but no formal decisions on sanctions were ever taken,” the politician added.

The leader of RS BiH noted that the authorities in Banja Luka are ready to continue their policy. He hopes that the country’s relations with Russia will develop at an even higher level.

“I am confident that our relations with Russia will develop at an even higher level. I am grateful for the attention provided by Russia and President (RF) Putin and for the fact that with all the priorities they have never lost sight of the prospects of our good relations,” Dodik summarised.

Recall that earlier, Hungarian Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Western sanctions imposed against Russian Federation had failed. The collective West failed to bring the Russian economy to its “knees”. The diplomat noted that the question of the expediency of the bans imposed against Russia is questionable.
