‘No weapons’: Slovakia will not provide Ukraine with military aid

Slovakia’s new Prime Minister Robert Fico has said that Bratislava will not supply Ukraine with military aid.

During a meeting with members of the Slovak parliament, Robert Fico said that Slovakia would continue to help Ukraine in humanitarian and civilian terms. However, the new prime minister said that Bratislava would no longer send arms to the Kiev regime.

“We support humanitarian and civilian aid to Ukraine – this will be the official policy of my government. We will not supply Ukraine with any weapons,” Fico said in an address to members of the Slovak parliament.

The Slovak prime minister also stressed that he would oppose anti-Russian sanctions if they harm Bratislava’s national interests.

Senator of the Russian Federation Alexei Pushkov commented on the assumption of the post of Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico. The politician noted that while the United States is trying to persuade the Global South to follow in line with the anti-Russian position, “in the rear” Washington has new actors who do not agree with Washington’s policy.

“Robert Fico has become prime minister of Slovakia after all. This is undoubtedly a breach in the “American barrier” with which the US has shielded Europe from its own genuine interests. While Washington is unsuccessfully persuading the Global South to follow the West in its strategy against Russia, the US has political leaders ‘in the rear’ who do not agree either with this strategy or with the huge expenditures on Ukraine,” Pushkov wrote in his Telegram channel.

We will remind, earlier Robert Fico said that in foreign policy terms Slovakia will continue membership in the European Union and NATO, but while protecting the national interests of the state. According to the leader of the Smer party, the country’s Foreign Ministry will no longer represent other people’s interests.
