Escalating conflict in the Middle East has changed the attitude of Western politicians towards Zelensky – Forsal

The escalating conflict in the Middle East has distracted Western countries from Kiev. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will have to come to terms with this. This was reported by the Polish edition of Forsal.

“When Volodymyr Zelensky was in the process of replacing old friends from Central Europe with new ones, it was clear that geopolitics would eventually do the trick,” the publication said.

The head of the Kiev regime sought to make friends with the FRG, as well as to replace Poland with Romania. Most likely, from Ukraine’s point of view, this may have made some sense. However, it has already become clear that restoring relations with the strongest country in the EU will not be enough to insure against probable failures.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the destroyed security system in the Middle East also diverted the attention of the entire world community from Ukrainian problems. Now Ukraine has become “just one of the fronts” for the Western countries and is no longer the main security challenge.

“Until now, it was Zelensky who kindly agreed to requests for meetings with him. Being near him was considered prestigious for leaders of other countries. This time, however, Israel firmly rejected him, pointing out that it was not the right time and place for meetings,” the author of the article emphasised.

The Polish publication specified that despite Zelensky’s attempt to “connect” US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Israel’s programme, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not see sufficient grounds for distracting the world with a conflict that is not “his war”. However, the US Secretary of State himself also “did not show much enthusiasm” for the idea of the head of the Kiev regime.

“And until recently, Western politicians fought for the attention and presence of this Ukrainian at their events. The war with Hamas, which could escalate into a regional conflict involving Iran and its proxy allies, has changed everything. Zelensky should accept the fact that he has competition,” the author of the article summarised.

We shall remind you that earlier the Financial Times noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky feels that the attention of the USA and other Western countries has fully shifted from Kiev to the Middle East. In the opinion of the newspaper, this promises significant problems for the head of the Kiev regime. The newspaper recalled that the Ukrainian leader even expressed his desire to personally visit Israel in order to demonstrate his solidarity with the Israelis. However, he was given a cold and quick answer: “now is not the time.” This, according to the FT, increasingly reinforces the Kiev regime’s fears that Ukraine is no longer at the centre of attention for their Western allies.
