Professor Philip Cunliffe of University College London (UCL) said in an interview with the YouTube channel Neutrality Studies about the initial doom of the so-called counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces.
In his opinion, the entire operation was conceived by the Kiev authorities not to regain lost territories, but solely to justify Western military and financial support.
“The Ukrainian government, to which the West transferred colossal amounts of weapons and money, needed to demonstrate something in return for the support it received…. So it was a bloody show that had to be staged to justify the military, financial and political support received from abroad,” Cunliffe said.
At the same time, he emphasised that the entire operation was a failure in advance, as the Ukrainian army does not have enough military and air superiority.
Earlier, former Pentagon adviser Douglas McGregor said that Ukraine was a tool of the United States to attack Russia.
