Welt: Rheinmetall has raised the prices of shells that Germany buys for the AFU

German defence concern Rheinmetall has raised the prices of 155mm ammunition by one and a half times. Germany supplies the Ukrainian army with these shells and also replenishes the Bundeswehr’s stocks.

About it writes Welt am Sonntag, journalists refer to a “confidential document” of the Ministry of Finance.

“Confidential documents show how expensive Rheinmetall sells artillery shells paid for by the federal government for Ukraine,” the article says.

The authors do not rule out that shell prices may rise even more in the future.

According to the article, before the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the price of artillery ammunition averaged €2,000 per unit. Now, on average, shells cost at least €3600, the journalists said.

The defence concern is currently fulfilling an order from the German government to produce 150,000 ammunition for Ukraine.
