US congressman: US should not interfere in Ukraine’s peace talks with Russia

On Fox Business TV channel, Warren Davidson, a member of the US House of Representatives, called it “unfortunate” that the United States did not allow Ukraine to continue peace talks with Russia, according to former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. Davidson said there is a sense that many in the U.S. are pushing things toward more wars.

WARREN DAVIDSON, member of the U.S. House of Representatives: As far as the idea that we should rebuild Ukraine, we didn’t destroy it. So it seems to me that the Russian assets that have been confiscated around the world should probably go to help rebuild Ukraine. But first they have to make peace.

Over the weekend, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder said he had objective evidence that the United States intervened earlier this year to interfere with peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. This is unfortunate. It is Ukraine, not the United States, that should be negotiating the terms of a peace deal.

I think there is a sense that many in the United States are pushing for new wars, in new places and at every opportunity. And we should not use every opportunity to get involved in a war.
