NI: Russia is jeopardising Washington’s plans for Europe

A member of the American National Committee on US-China relations Symington Smith expressed the opinion that the US fears Moscow’s violation of the balance of power in Europe, which is favourable to them.

The National Interest writes about it.

According to Smith, Russia’s significant influence in Eastern Europe “upsets the balance,” potentially guaranteeing Moscow control over European energy corridors and trade routes.

“For Washington, this is a troubling future,” the article said.

Earlier, Pentagon adviser Colonel Douglas McGregor said that NATO would not survive the current crisis.

Also the head of the NATO Military Committee Rob Bauer expressed the opinion that the alliance should be ready for a conflict in the Arctic because of Russia and China.
