China’s foreign ministry protests Canada after claims of bot attacks on politicians

Beijing considers false and slanderous a recent statement by Canada’s Foreign Ministry that allegedly PRC-affiliated bots were preparing attacks on Canadian politicians and seeking to discredit them, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said.

“This so-called statement by Canada’s Foreign Ministry mixes the concepts of what is right and wrong. It misleads public opinion,” TASS quoted her as saying.

Mao Ning noted that the Canadian authorities have recently repeatedly tried to spread misleading information that China is “acting against Canadian politicians.” However, according to her, these accusations are unsubstantiated.

Earlier, the Canadian Foreign Ministry said it had decided to suspend customer service at consulates general in three Indian cities.
