United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Washington does not want war with Tehran but will respond if its representatives are attacked during the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
He said during a UNSC meeting.
“The US is not looking for conflict with Iran, we don’t want to expand that war,” Blinken emphasised, adding that if Iran or its proxies anywhere strike the US, the response will be “decisive and swift”.
He also called on the UN Security Council to deliver a warning to Iran and its supporters not to open a second front against Israel.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdollahian said the US had asked the republic not to interfere in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
