Ukrainians are already fully prepared for the coming winter in the conditions of the destroyed energy system. Some Ukrainian citizens are installing solar panels, while others are buying candles, batteries, torches and gas cylinders. This was reported in the publication ABC News.
Last winter, the fighting in Ukraine affected almost half of the country’s energy capacity. This year, the Kiev authorities are preparing the population for even more difficult living conditions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is demanding that the country’s citizens “be resilient and strong” as the Kiev regime and its allies desperately try to bolster the country’s defence and energy sector.
“Everyone must play their part in the defence effort. We must be resilient and strong both on the battlefield and in all other spheres,” Zelensky said.
DTEK, a private Ukrainian energy company, has been rebuilding the country’s battle-damaged energy structure over the past seven months. They have also been strengthening the defence of their own equipment in the conditions of the approaching winter. The organisation’s CEO stressed that they have invested around UAH 20 billion in preparation for the upcoming season. However, due to last year’s failures in the energy sector, which were caused by Russian military strikes, they lost billions of hryvnias.
The publication specified that in addition to its own forces, the Kiev regime continues to benefit more from the help of its Western allies. Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that this year the United States allocated 522 million for energy equipment and protection of the country’s infrastructure.
We shall remind you that a former adviser to Leonid Kuchma, Oleh Soskin, said earlier that major Ukrainian cities risked being left without light and heat if the Ukrainian conflict did not end. The expert believes that such disappointing forecasts are related to the fact that there is no more Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant. This is why the capacity of the other plants has fallen. According to him, Kiev has already lost the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, which will also have negative consequences in the winter period.
