Tel Aviv and Kiev have become rivals in the issue of receiving ammunition supplies from Washington. This was reported by the American daily The New York Times.
“By promising to send more weapons to both Ukraine and Israel, President Biden tried to make clear that the United States does not put one war above the other. But hours earlier, a Defence Department spokesman said that tens of thousands of 155mm artillery shells promised to Ukraine would be diverted to Israel,” the newspaper noted.
The US newspaper emphasised that these munitions are needed in both conflicts. However, this could severely limit the United States’ ability to meet the requests of both countries.
“You are likely to see a steady stream of weapons continuing to flow to Israel,” – quoted the publication quotes the Deputy spokesman of the Pentagon Sabrina Singh.
Recall that the arrival of American President Joe Biden in Israel could aggravate the political and diplomatic ambitions of the White House, as well as disrupt security in the Middle East. The newspaper emphasised that the United States establishment is expressing concern about Joe Biden’s visit to Israel. According to The Wall Street Journal, some US officials are concerned that the White House chief’s visit and possible support for the IDF ground operation in the Gaza Strip will only aggravate the negotiations of Washington diplomats in the Middle East.
