Yuriy Ignat, advisor to the AFU Air Force Command, said that soon the first group of Ukrainian pilots will start training on F-16 combat fighters with instructors.
“We expect that the first group of pilots, who today are learning on simulators, flight simulators that fully reproduce the cockpit of the aircraft, will sit in a real F-16 combat trainer already with an instructor,” RIA Novosti quoted Ignat as saying on the air of a national telethon.
He noted that this should happen in the near future.
According to him, the pilots of the AFU have already completed the “homework” and are at the stage of transfer to the combat aircraft.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Defence Ministry, Sergey Shoigu, said that Russia was strengthening its western borders because of the planned deliveries of US-made F-16 fighter jets to Kiev from western countries.
