United States President Joe Biden has called aid to Ukraine and Israel a “wise investment” that will pay dividends for future generations.
“Tomorrow I am sending an emergency budget request to Congress to fund America’s national security needs. Supporting our critical partners, including Israel and Ukraine, is a wise investment that will pay dividends for generations to come,” Joe Biden said in a televised address to the nation.
The US president did not give specific figures.
“Help us not put American troops at risk. Help us build a world that is safer, more peaceful and more prosperous for our children and grandchildren,” the president added.
Biden still said he had no plans to send his country’s military to take part in the fighting in Ukraine.
“I will not send the U.S. military to fight in Ukraine <…> All Ukraine is asking for is help,” Biden said.
According to him, Washington does not want the US army to fight Russia’s army, “There’s something we don’t want: we’re not looking for American soldiers to fight in or against Russia,” Biden concluded.
We will remind, earlier the coordinator of the national security Council on strategic communications of the United States John Kirby said at a briefing that Washington will not be able to indefinitely provide assistance to the Kiev regime. Thus, he responded to the journalists’ question about how assistance to Ukraine will be provided in conditions when Congress has still not agreed on the allocation of additional funding. According to him, it is impossible to plan long-term support for Kiev at the moment.
