The European Commission is launching an investigation into Meta and TikTok for potentially violating EU law on content moderation – Politico.
The companies have until 8 November to provide information on how they combat illegal content and disinformation in the wake of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. They also need to explain how they ensure election integrity and child safety on their platforms.
If Meta and TikTok fail to do so, they could face fines of up to 6 per cent of their annual revenue or even blocking in the EU.
