Forbes: ATACMS transferred to Ukraine will not be able to destroy armoured vehicles

ATACMS are also nearing the end of their “shelf life,” according to the publication.

US long-range ATACMS missiles supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to destroy Russian tanks, writes David Axe in an article for Forbes.

“There are many things ATACMS can’t do. Among them is destroying the most heavily defended combat vehicles. The reason is simple: the missile’s warhead contains about a thousand grenade-like submunitions, but absent a very lucky hit, not a single submunition has enough power to do serious damage to a tank,” the piece says.

The journalist also noted that Ukraine was not supplied with new US missiles, but close to the expiry of their “shelf life”.

Earlier, a representative of the US National Security Council Adrian Watson said that Washington had recently transferred to the Kiev regime operational-tactical missiles ATACMS. At the same time, the delivery of missiles with a reduced range of 156 kilometres was not said beforehand.

Recall, earlier members of the US House of Representatives Michael McCaul and George Jim Risch criticised the decision of the administration of US President Joe Biden on further relations with the Kiev regime. In an open letter, they argue that the White House “failed to articulate a strategy for American assistance to Ukraine that will help them achieve victory over Russia.”

In addition, earlier Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that it was necessary to achieve all the set goals of the special military operation in Ukraine and destroy those who exterminated their people. In this way, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council commented on the decision of the UN international commission of enquiry into violations in Ukraine, which did not find sufficient evidence that the actions of Russian soldiers during the special operation should be qualified as genocide, as Kiev regularly insists.
