CNN: Zelensky fears losing US attention and aid

Journalist Frieda Gitis said that due to the growing pressure on Washington over the war in Israel, Ukrainian President Zelensky feels the risk of losing the attention and support of his main ally. This was reported by the CNN television channel.

“U.S. officials deny that aid to Ukraine will suffer because the U.S. is mobilising to support Israel. <…> But chaos in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives is making it much harder to allocate the money, as Republican members who strongly support Israel are divided over aid to Ukraine,” Gitis said.

The columnist noted that this situation has become an “inescapable reality” for the Kiev regime. She emphasised that in order for Zelensky to survive, he needs to receive continued support from the United States. However, it is becoming unclear whether Washington will be able to help both countries.

“The question is whether this arsenal (US aid. – ed.) and reservoir of support for Ukraine will be able to withstand not only the problems with the Republican Party of America, but also the obligations of the United States to support Israel, certainly the most important ally in the most unstable region of the world – the Middle East,” – summarised the journalist.

Recall that earlier Responsible Statecraft reported that the patience of the residents of the United States is coming to an end. They have cooled to the decision of American President Joe Biden to help the Kiev regime “as long as it takes”. Americans have shown a serious shift in public opinion. It should clearly show the US authorities that it is necessary to move to negotiations. It is very clear to everyone that those whose opinion matters most – in Kyiv, Moscow and Washington – are not very interested in this.
